    Job Description:

    We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced cook to join our small team to work in the marina cafe at Barton Marina, situated on the Trent and Mersey Canal near Barton- under-Needwood.

    You'll help to manage and coordinate the day-to-day operation of the cafe kitchen, providing the highest and most consistent standards of food preparation and delivery. Your ideas on dishes and promotions are always encouraged and supported. You'll be responsible for ensuring that the kitchen and associated paperwork meets the 5 star standard required by the EHO at all times.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Communicate effectively with the cafe team and encourage an atmosphere of respect and co-working amongst colleagues.
    • Support staff training, where required, ensuring allergen information is readily available for the front of house team.
    • Provide ideas and feedback to management to consistently review and improve our offering.
    • Be proficient in the understanding of the law regarding allergens, ensuring that every dish meets requirements.
    • Take pride in the presentation and quality of food from your kitchen, ensuring the customer always receives an exceptional standard of food.
    • Complete wastage and staff food logs to accurately record GPs.
    • Demonstrate a high level of food safety knowledge and follow recommended practises.
    • Ensure that all daily, weekly and monthly paperwork is completed in the Safer Food Better Business records.
    • Check that all equipment is working safely and compliant with manufacturers guidelines for operation.
    • Maintain the cleanliness and care of the equipment and working areas used in accordance with the standards required by Law and Company procedure.
    • Support the front of house team when required.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 minimum.
    • Excellent understanding of food hygiene regulations.
    • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a cook in a fast paced, high volume environment.
    • Be fluent in spoken and written English.

    £11.40 per hour

    Part-time hours: 30 per week
